Scrolling page redirects to Maps app

Project Member Reported by pinkerton@chromium.org, Sep 6 2016

Issue description

App Version (from "Chrome Settings > About Chrome"): M55dev
iOS Version: iOS9.3.5
Device: iPhone6s

- make sure you have Google Maps app installed.
- go to http://www.leisurefitness.com/Treadmills-C7.aspx
- swipe up in the content area (intent to scroll the content).

expected:
- scrolls page

actual:
- launches Google Maps app.
- just tapping the page doesn't do it, you have to scroll.

It's fine if you scroll up, but scrolling down triggers it. Not sure if this regressed or it was always broken. Have not tried on iPad.

Reproduces on
Devices: iPhones and iPads
Builds: M52 stable, M53
OS Version: 9.3.5, 10.0

I'm not able to repro on my iOS 10 phone. Are you sure that the failure isn't iOS 9 only?
I am able to reproduce on my iPhone6s with iOS10.0 latest beta.
Just goto the main page at leisurefitness.com
Tap shop-now and then browse back and forth between few webpages.
Now try scrolling down on any page and you will be redirected to Google Maps automatically.

I was able to reproduce easily just after few minutes surfing on that specific webpage.

Any traction here? It's not a release-blocker, but it's really bad behavior if scrolling can simply cause an app switch without prompting. It's user-hostile.

I've been testing this and determined that the web site behaved differently between iOS 9 and iOS 10.

I can reproduce the problem on iOS 9.3.5 only. Cannot repro on 10.1.

The web site requests different maps URL on iOS 9 than on iOS 10.

Are you still able to reproduce on iOS 10? (see comment 3)?

I cannot repro on iOS 10.2 but assigning to Srikanthg to verify on his device as well.

I can still reproduce on iOS10.2 dev on iPhone7 with the latest M55 beta.
Let me know if you need anyother info.

Removing M-55 label as we are way past that.
Tested on iOS 10.3 beta and cannot repro, but can still repro on iOS 9.3.

srikanthg: Can you retest this in M58? I think this is the same problem as Issue 700709 which has been fixed.
