Assertion failure when disconnecting gamepad

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_11_6) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/54.0.2840.8 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Connect a gamepad
2. Go to http://html5gamepad.com and press buttons to activate gamepad
3. Disconnect the gamepad

What is the expected behavior?
Gamepad should disappear from the page.

What went wrong?
Page crashes due to assertion failure, leading to 'Aw, Snap!' with the attached stack trace.

Did this work before? N/A 

Chrome version: 54.0.2840.8  Channel: dev
OS Version: OS X 10.11.6
Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 22.0 r0

Seems to happen at least on Mac and Android debug builds.
