According to the trace, it seems rAF is running. I'm not sure if this is a browser bug.

Doesn't repro in 53.0.2785.89 or 55.0.2850.0 canary for me. Happy low-idling CPU.

Can you try and find a version with repro please test team?

Unable to reproduce the issue on mac 10.11.6 chrome version 53.0.2785.89 and canary 55.0.2850.0 - When tab is active observed cpu usage to be low.

Please find the screenshot

Could you please try the same with a new profile and update the thread with observations.

I could reproduce this, but as tkent says, it looks like heavy javascript. For example, one ~58ms timer invocation I saw in my trace (M55 retina mac book pro) was mostly synchronous forced layouts (12 of them!).

This seems like WontFix. pinkerton@, please reopen if you think this is in error.
It's possible they were running an experiment, as they do from time to time. Makes our job rather difficult :-)
