chrome hangs while trying to delete any extension on windows 10 build 14915

Reported by yahyoh1...@gmail.com, Sep 3 2016

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/54.0.2840.8 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. open chrome
2. chose any extension and press remove
3. chrome just hangs

What is the expected behavior?

What went wrong?
when trying to remove any extension chrome just hangs till killing it from windows task manager

WebStore page: all extensions

Did this work before? N/A

Chrome version: 54.0.2840.8 Channel: dev
OS Version: 10.0
Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 22.0 r0

i tried to run chrome as administrator but still the same

Can you provide a screenshot?
well i guess something changed in the system messing up chrome even something simple as editing a bookmark causing chrome to hang or even worse uninstalling chrome causing the installer to freeze hmmm.

Top extension on your list looks potentially suspicious.

Can you run a scan with the Chrome Cleanup Tool and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware?

Unable to repro this issue on Windows 10 [Enterprise & Enterprise N] for Google Chrome Dev Version - 54.0.2840.8

Screen-recording is attached.

@MTV: Team, could you also please verify the same on the Windows 10 system(s) available at your end.

Thank you.

Actually the issue didn't happen on AU update its only started on Windows insider build 14915...i would say the issue something blocking the popup message that asks you "do you want to remove x extension" it never shows up which causes chrome to become unresponsive... Anyway i went back to AU update this issue was really annoying.
Confirming on every single RS2 branch build of Windows 10, including 14915 and 14931.

I can replicate on older builds and every single branch of Chrome.

I can reliably trigger when removing an extension by right-clicking on its icon on the address bar or adding a hyperlink to post or comment when using Reddit Enhancement Suite.

The prompts never apear and I have to kill the Chrome process.
I should add that any browser-generated prompt, popup, or overlay can trigger the freezes.
Disabling hardware acceleration in the advanced settings is the only workaround I can think of.
Still present in 56.0.2902.0 with build 14955
Any Javascript alert() will trigger this bug.

Could you please upgrade to latest stable 55.0.2883.87 and update the thread if you still able to reproduce it.

Removed Needs-Bisect label as unable to reproduce it.
Can replicate on latest build of every branch. Stable, beta, dev, canary, etc.
