Chrome Remote Desktop on Dell 13 Chromebook has display issues with dual-monitor (unequal rez width) win10 host

Reported by thomas.c...@gmail.com, Sep 2 2016

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; CrOS x86_64 8530.77.0) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/53.0.2785.87 Safari/537.36
Platform: 8530.77.0 (Official Build) beta-channel lulu

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Have a host with two displays of unequal resolution width (2560 vs 1920)
2. Connect to Win10 host using Chrome Remote Desktop from Dell 13 Chromebook
3. Receive only a blank white screen in the client.

What is the expected behavior?
Both displays should be visible in the client.

What went wrong?
Chrome remote desktop displays only a blank white screen. Mouse and keyboard appears to control host, although not as smoothly as normal.

Did this work before? N/A

Chrome version: 53.0.2785.87 Channel: beta
OS Version: 8530.77.0
Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 22.0 r0

This issue does not occur when using an Asus Flip Chromebook (minnie) or when using the OSX client. I have experienced this only with the Dell 13 running either the i3 or 3205U.

The issue is somewhat mitigated by arranging the displays vertically instead of side-by-side, however, in the vertical arrangement the viewport autoscrolls to the top left when the mouse is released.

Also, if both displays are set to the same resolution, the issue is resolved. However, running one monitor at suboptimal resolution is a workaround at best.

There are limits on the maximum supported screen size, which is dependent on the client hardware. Bug 552565 covers this, although it has been closed in favour of a more general solution to improving multi-monitor support.

I'm going to close this as a dupe of bug 169262, although that bug covers the more general use-case. In the meantime, there is no workaround other than running at a lower resolution. You might also want to consider enabling curtain mode at the host (see https://support.google.com/chrome/a/answer/2799701?hl=en for details), although that will effectively just condense your desktop to a single monitor for the duration of your connection.
