Sending TAB key in WebDriver enters key as character literal instead of moving focus

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/53.0.2785.89 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
This is a regression of  issue 513768 . It was working as expected in Chrome 52.

Webdriver test example.

Opens google.com and focuses search input element and sends TAB key. On Chrome 52 focus moves to the search button below, in Chrome 53 a literal TAB character is inserted into the input element.

This seems to be fixed with the new ChromeDriver 2.24.

Yes, that's correct. This issue has been fixed in Chromedriver v2.24 . Marking it duplicate to  issue chromedriver:1484
