Dropdowns stacking behind other content |
||||||||||||||||||||||||
Issue descriptionVersion: 54.0.2837.0 At some point iron-dropdowns have started doing weird things, like displaying behind content they normally display in front of. Example: Manage Search Engines (screenshot attached). The following settings-search-engine-entry rows overlap the dropdown content, even though the iron-dropdown is position:fixed; z-index: 103. Possibly related: issue 642301 , issue 642632 .

Small repro: https://jsfiddle.net/6c0thtne/ iron-list uses transforms which create stacking contexts. is my guess as to why this happens.

Yeah, I was planning to investigate this along with the other dropdown items on my plate.

Quoting egarciad: yeah that's a known issue the problem is stacking contexts every list item has transform:translate3d which creates a layer so those layer aren't on the same stacking context. and their z position depends on DOM ordering. I would suggest moving the dropdown outside the list item.
