Blank Items appear when first time dropdown is opened.

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/52.0.2743.116 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. We generate our UI using Freemarker within Spring App
2. Dropdown are rendered using freemarker macros
3. When we click on Dropdown for first time after page load, it displays blank entries with BLACK background.
4. Subsequent to first try all dropdown open fine.

What is the expected behavior?

What went wrong?
What is it adding blank entries with BLACK background when we fist time open a dropdown, after page load.

Did this work before? Yes Prior to Latest Chrome update 52...

Chrome version: 52.0.2743.116  Channel: stable
OS Version: 6.1 (Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2)
Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 22.0 r0

This same page works fine on IE.
