Issue descriptionTHIS TEMPLATE IS FOR FILING BUGS ON THE ANDROID SYSTEM WEBVIEW. GENERAL WEB BUGS SHOULD BE FILED USING A DIFFERENT TEMPLATE! Device name: Nexus 9 Android version:7.0 nougat WebView version (from system settings -> Apps -> Android System WebView):53.0.2785.80 Application: Kosher Social Network Beta (com.iudaizm.koshersocialnetwork.beta) Application version:1.4.3 URLs (if applicable):https://beta.iudaizm.com Steps to reproduce: (1) Run Kosher Social Network application (2) after loading, click "sign up" button (watch animation) Expected result: animation fast and smooth, similar this page in iOS Actual result: animation NOT smooth and performance of CSS animations is very low, then this in iOS, and JavaScript calculations slower then on iOS devices

On 54.0 version animations work match better! Thanks for your work! I think, on 55.0 version (in the future) animations can working fine?)

I asked for a test page to reproduce the issue without having a time restriction, not a video. But if you think perf is better in latest release, then that's fine too. m54 just branched, so probably a couple months until it's released to stable

Two things: That animation will perform much better on all chrome on android devices if you enable gpu rasterization on chrome: https://www.chromium.org/developers/design-documents/chromium-graphics/how-to-get-gpu-rasterization Webview is still going to be slow on nexus 9 due to known webview slowness on nvidia gpu: crbug.com/492315
