using, then closing Android app causes chrome to close and chromebook to temporarily crash

Platform: 8714.1.0 (Official Build) dev-channel veyron_minnie

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. open Android app
2. use Android app
3. close Android app

What is the expected behavior?
Android app closes normally and I can continue to use Chrome and other Android apps

What went wrong?
When I close Android app, screen turns black temporarily. Once screen refreshes, Chrome gives "did not close normally, restore?" message

Is it a problem with a plugin? N/A 

Did this work before? Yes Chrome OS 53 in Dev channel

Chrome version: 54.0.2830.0  Channel: dev
OS Version: 8714.1.0
Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 23.0 r0

I'm having the same issue. It used to work in version 53 on dev channel.

Version 54.0.2830.0 dev
Platform 8714.1.0 (Official Build) dev-channel veyron_minnie
ARC Version 3152188
Firmware Google_Veyron_Minnie.6588.197.0
