No "Howdy XYZ" OOBE on 53. |

Issue descriptionTried latest 53 on Samus testing image. Flashed with --clobber-stateful. I went through OOBE, added an account and didn't see the "Howdy, XYZ" tutorial.

@alemate: Do you know what's the logic deciding whether we show the tutorial? Can I force show it somehow?

will this be a Stable blocker for Chrome Desktop M53 (Linux)?

It's Chrome OS only.

Ok, removing "Linux". Thank you.

Are you sure that you used new user?
Displaying of this dialog is controlled by syncable priority preference:
registry->RegisterBooleanPref(
prefs::kFirstRunTutorialShown,
false,
user_prefs::PrefRegistrySyncable::SYNCABLE_PRIORITY_PREF);
I created new user and verified that "Howdy, XYZ" is shown on 53.0.2785.80 .
You can also remove your user from all devices, reset your chrome sync data in your google account settings ( https://www.google.com/settings/chrome/sync ), and add this user to a chrome device.
You can also force showing this tutorial by adding "--force-first-run-ui" command-line option.

The only difference is that I checked it on Peppy, but I don't think it matters. Could you verify that cleaning Chrome Sync data leads to First Run UI shown?

Ah, I didn't know the preference is syncable. Confirmed it works after clearing sync and readding a new account. |
