Able to reproduce the issue on win7 chrome version 52.0.2743.116 and canary - Selected text is not in search tab hitting CTRL+F or F3

This is working fine in firefox with Ctrl+F

This is a non regression issue existing since M30 builds to latest canary

Sounds like more of a feature request or requested behavior change.

Current behavior is that, Ctrl+F restores the previous search text in the search tab.
