Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.3; Win64; x64; rv:46.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/46.0 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Auto-update to latest version 2. Find breaking bug 3. Attempt to revert to a previous version What is the expected behavior? Have a way to go back to an unbroken version What went wrong? I can't see one, even though I can see a folder from 51.0.2704.103 in Explorer. I tried changing the version number in [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Google\Chrome\BLBeacon\version], which was the only reference to that number that I could find in the registry, but that didn't work. All the other guides I found online mentioned using "chrome_old.exe" or downloading the old installer, but I couldn't find those either. In fact, the only installer I could find for version 51 seems to have instead installed version 53... Did this work before? N/A Chrome version: Version 52.0.2743.116 m Channel: n/a OS Version: 6.3 Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 21.0 r0 This is mostly just a response to #639023

Security updates are delivered to the most recent version of Google Chrome only, so there is no supported way of moving backwards to an older version.

OK, for the reinstall method can you point to where to get older versions for installing? Security updates are only any good if the rest of the browser isn't horribly broken.

I cannot. Google does not provide a means to download old versions of Google Chrome. If the browser is horribly broken please file a bug so we can fix it. If you're saying it's "horribly broken" because you disagree with the way the user interface works, your best bet is to respectfully voice your opinion on the relevant crbug issue. If you would like backspace to navigate backwards, this extension restores the functionality: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/go-back-with-backspace/eekailopagacbcdloonjhbiecobagjci. I hope this helps. |
