This bug tracks a feature request:
Another possible implementation for Alt+Tab is to have the selector move over the windows instead of windows moving through the selector (current implementation).
Pros:
-a user would always know what their destination is, locking their eyes on it and then alt+tabbing to get there.
Cons:
-Would need to fit all windows onto a screen at once - and since the window previews would get really small after N gets big, we'd have to cap the number of windows to 10 which could be disorienting to a user with a lot of windows.
-For the first few tabs, the selector is actually the only thing that's moving (the windows only start moving once the selector gets to midscreen) so this only applies to user trying to get to MRU + 3 or greater
-There is also an advantage to not having to have your eyes move once the selector stops
-if you want to get to MRU + [some large number] it probably makes more sense to press the overview button than alt+tab'ing a bunch of times.
