Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/52.0.2743.116 Safari/537.36 Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. click a link on a webpage 2. press "backspace" 3. experience a big surprise that this doesn't work anymore 4. realize that you have "alt-left" ingrained in muscle memory for "go one workspace to the left" 5. curse 6. open a bug ticket 7. realize that Google devs don't care and there is no discussion about it 8. switch to firefox What is the expected behavior? go back in history on the webpage What went wrong? What went wrong here is that behavior was changed for a function that is taken for granted by many users. The only option is an "addon" for the ability to bind a simple action for "go back in history". This addon asks for permission to read and change all data on my websites. That is just fucked up. Why does an ADDON that only has to change a keybinding need permission to read my data?! This is just a preferences setting in many browsers. This change would have been fine if the Chromium team would have taken the route to make it configurable. Did this work before? N/A Chrome version: 52.0.2743.116 Channel: stable OS Version: Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 21.0 r0 I was a happy user of Chromium for a very long time. I don't see why a keybinding needs an addon in my browser. That's plain stupid. Thankfully Firefox has long caught up to Chromium.

I completely agree. Just add a checkbox for backspace as back.
