input elements are now firing select events when focused programmatically

(1) Run the linked JS fiddle, observe the console What is the expected result? Focusing an input programmatically should not cause a select event to be emitted. What happens instead? Focusing an input programtically causes a selct event to be emitted Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if possible.

Able to reproduce the issue on Windows 7, Mac 10.11.6, Ubuntu 14.04 using 52.0.2743.116, latest canary 54.0.2824.0 as per above steps. This is regression issue broken in M-52. Hmm, I think this is a bug of Firefox. Firefox dispatches 'select' event on TAB focus navigation, but doesn't dispatch on element.focus(). It's inconsistent. IE doesn't support 'select' event. |
