What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) open files.app
(2) get enough photos from camera sdcard (25 shots from EOS 80D)
(3) open gallery by double clicking on the image on files.app.

What is the expected output?

gallery doesn't crash and I can browse through the images

What do you see instead?

system usually crawls to a halt.

Gallery is consuming about 1GB memory, browser process and GPU process is consuming about 300MB each.
