Issue descriptionChrome Version: 52.0.2743.116 (Offizieller Build) (32-Bit) Chrome OS Version: 8350.68.0 (Official Build) stable-channel veyron_jaq Chrome OS Platform: google/veyron_jaq (Medion AKOYA S2013) Steps To Reproduce: (1) Connect a Sony [KDL-52V5500](https://www.sony.de/support/de/product/KDL-52V5500) to the Google Chromebook with an HDMI cable. Expected Result: A resolution of 1920 x 1080 should be chosen automatically. Actual Result: A resolution of 1024 x 768 is chosen. How frequently does this problem reproduce? (Always, sometimes, hard to reproduce?) Always. What is the impact to the user, and is there a workaround? If so, what is it? The external monitor cannot be used with the Chromebook, as there is only a small image shown in the middle of the Sony device with quite some black border. Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screen shot or log if possible. It works with other laptops, so the HDMI cable or the Sony TV work.

In the Sony TV settings menu, going to *Screen* and changing the *Screen Format* from *Normal* to *Full 2* gets rid of the black borders. But there is still no resolution of 1920 x 1080.
