Regression: Yellow highlight of search result stays even after clearing the Search text.

Chrome Version: 54.0.2823.1 (Official Build) 787b4d3322f8e433876ccb912291f3239c786a09-refs/branch-heads/2823@{#1} (64-bit)
OS: Mac (10.10.5, 10.11.5), Windows (7,8,10), Linux

Steps:
1. Launch Chrome and navigate to chrome://md-settings.
2. Type any text like 're' in Search box, then click on close icon of search box and observe.

Actual: Yellow highlight of search result stays even after clearing the Search text.

Expected: Yellow highlight of search result should not stay after clearing the Search text.

This is a regression issue broken in M-54, will soon update bisect info.

The error that is shown in the console has been fixed, which I believe was the root cause of the issue. Please re-open if the problem persists.

Tested the issue on Windows 7, Mac 10.11.6, Ubuntu 14.04 using 54.0.2830.0.Observed that yellow highlight of search result does not stay after clearing the Search text.
