Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; CrOS x86_64 8350.60.0) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/52.0.2743.85 Safari/537.36 Platform: Acer 14 Chromebook Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Connect smart phone 2. Copy multiple (20+) files from the phone to downloads 3. Extra - Try opening a file as the copy process is running. What is the expected behavior? Files should copy quickly. I should be able to open a file from the file explorer as the copy is running. What went wrong? Copy function was really slow. I was unable to do anything else with respect to file operations as the copy process was running. In general, it doesn't appear you can perform multiple operations at once within the file explorer. Did this work before? No Chrome version: 52.0.2743.85 Channel: stable OS Version: 8350.60.0 Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 22.0 r0 This has been the case ever since I owned the Chromebook. Please increase the performance of the file explorer. Make it multithreaded.

The performance issue is hard to resolve. 1) Reading file from MTP device is slow due to the protocol. 2) Writing files in parallel can slow down the copy rate depending on the disk spec. That said, > I was unable to do anything else with respect to file operations as the copy process was running. This is a problem. We should fix one.

I think a fix was made in a release after M52 to improve this behavior. Please reopen if this issue is still observed. |
