Chromes spikes CPU usage and freezes

Reported by kidyel...@gmail.com, Aug 7 2016

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/54.0.2816.0 Safari/537.36

Example URL:
Any.

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Open up any amount of websites.
2. Casually use them.
3. BAM, CHROME SUDDENLY SPIKES IN CPU USAGE AND FREEZES FOR A FEW SECONDS!

What is the expected behavior?
Use Chrome without it freezing or spiking in CPU usage.

What went wrong?
Chrome freezes and spikes in CPU usage. This happens with just about any page recently, though more often when there is flash content open in any tab.
Chrome spikes to 25%+ CPU usage, which means it's just about freezing up one whole core.

Does it occur on multiple sites: Yes

Is it a problem with a plugin? N/A

Did this work before? Yes Last week - forgot exact date latest update happened.

Does this work in other browsers? Yes

Chrome version: 54.0.2816.0 Channel: dev
OS Version: 6.1 (Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2)
Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 23.0 r0

Having the same problems here, Chrome has become a resource hog since the last stable releases.

Seems to have been resolved with the latest dev build.
Version 54.0.2824.0 dev-m (64-bit)

Hm...it's still happening, but not quite as often. There's no real pattern I can see other than that it just starts to freeze up and CPU usage spikes.

Sorry - it's been an issue that's been coming and going with releases. It seems to have gotten better recently. Probably okay to resolve/close this.
