ALL desktop files deleted irrecoverably due to a chromium related helper file

Reported by kriti96....@gmail.com, Aug 6 2016

Issue description

Chrome Version : 51.0.2704.103 (Official Build) m (64-bit)>
URLs (if applicable) :
Other browsers tested:
Add OK or FAIL after other browsers where you have tested this issue:
     Safari: PASS/FAIL (Version) not applicable
    Firefox: PASS/FAIL (Version) not applicable
         IE: PASS/FAIL (Version) not applicable

What steps will reproduce the problem?
Unsure if this should do but this happened on my system-
(1) Open Desktop
(2) do alt+tab to open other open windows
(3) after a while do windows+D to open desktop

What is the expected result?
ALL files in C:/Users/desktop Simply disappear, irrecoverable from Recuva or the recovery tool suggested by windows 10 page.

What happens instead?
The files shouldn't be deleted.

Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if
possible.
PFA Screenshot (52) that a Chromium browser-related helper file was responsible for the overwriting of atleast ONE of my files. ATLEAST ONE, because Recuva couldn't list ALL the files i lost.
Because i do not have a proof of the files i had on my desktop, PFA screenshot (57) and screenshot (58) of some recent files i used to have before the desktop wipe-out. source: recent places. THE WIPEOUT HAPPENED AT ~10 pm IST, 5 August 2016. Current desktop files are as in screenshot (59).
