Move 'diff' column earlier in history + few other feedbacks |
|||||||||
Issue descriptionFirst off, history is a great feature! Thanks. Here are a few pieces of feedback: 1. I think 'diff' is a core feature of History and the one thing I will use most often specially that the diff is shows within codesearch. So it is unfortunate that one has to scroll horizontally to reach it. I suggest moving it to third or fourth column. 2. Author field expands to fit the longest author field. That leaves lots of unused blank space and pushes the commit title which is more useful out of view and in need of scroll. - I suggest limiting the author column size - Alternatively you can abberviate the worst author name offenders e.g., name@domain@bbb929c8-8fbe-4397-9dbb-9b2b20218538 3. expanding the history item, the commit message formatting is totally broken. So it is not easy to read at all. I have attached a screenshot of what I see on my 15 inch MacBook for this page: https://cs-staging.chromium.org/chromium/src/third_party/WebKit/Source/core/html/forms/RangeInputType.cpp

I was wondering if we could display just the user-name of the author email, eliding the domain name, if they're almost always "@chromium.org". Perhaps we could set it up so that hovering over this abbreviated email name form would display a tool tip containing the entire email?

I think we would like to keep the info ready available so hovering sounds like a good way to do that. This would possibly need to be special behavior for the external version so you should involve larsrc@ in the discussion.
