Regression in beta: Selection no longer copies selected text to the clipboard for middle-click insert

Project Member Reported by korob...@google.com, Aug 3 2016

Issue description

Version: 54.0.2816.0 beta (64-bit)
OS: Linux, Ubuntu 14.04 x64

What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) Highlight a text on a web-page with a mouse, say, Version text on chrome://chrome
(2) Middle-click into a text field to paste text

What is the expected output?
Selected text should have been copied to the clipboard and then pasted into the text field

What do you see instead?
Previous clipboard contents gets pasted.

This is super inconvenient.

To clarify, this is Linux-only "quick" clipboard feature that usually works with all GUI apps. Suddenly broke in Chrome 54.
