When copying just the IP or hostname from the omnibar, http:// is still added to the clipboard

Reported by drwi...@gmail.com, Aug 2 2016

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/51.0.2704.106 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Go to any website HTTP website, say http://www.example.com/foobar
2. Select & Copy just the hostname. (www.example.com in this case)
3. Paste

What is the expected behavior?
To paste "www.example.com"

What went wrong?
Instead "http://www.example.com/" is pasted

Did this work before? N/A

Chrome version: 51.0.2704.106 Channel: stable
OS Version: 16.04
Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 22.0 r0

As a developer, this is incredibly inconvenient to select just the part that I want, and to keep additional cruft getting added. I'd be fine with the behavior being optional.

We wouldn't support an option to toggle this sort of small detail.

This is, admittedly, inconvenient for developers, mostly folks who use ping (I wouldn't mind if "ping http://foo.com/" Just Worked, though I can construct an argument for why it doesn't). We did this after a variety of people trying to copy hostnames into places like Gmail and such no longer got the scheme they wanted, but it's one of those magic behaviors that's a downside of stripping the scheme to begin with.

In the end, at least to date, we've decided the upsides of this outweigh the downsides, but I am sympathetic to the frustration with it :/
