Issue descriptionTHIS TEMPLATE IS FOR FILING BUGS ON THE ANDROID SYSTEM WEBVIEW. GENERAL WEB BUGS SHOULD BE FILED USING A DIFFERENT TEMPLATE! Device name: Sony C6603 Android version: 4.4.4 WebView version (from system settings -> Apps -> Android System WebView): 51.0.2704.81 Application: Application version: URLs (if applicable): Steps to reproduce: It appears that when a page is unable to load successfully and onReceivedError is called, then onPageFinished is called twice. The second time it shows the url "data:text/html,chromewebdata" in the address bar. This is the closest I could find in the existing bugs, although it doesn't appear to be for webview: https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=630163&can=1&q=data%20text%20html&colspec=ID%20Pri%20M%20Stars%20ReleaseBlock%20Component%20Status%20Owner%20Summary%20OS%20Modified There are some discussions on the internet around this but no real solution, e.g.. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/34730843/android-web-view-onpagefinished-called-twice-after-onreceivederror https://github.com/liveservices/LiveSDK-for-Android/issues/50 http://www.programcreek.com/java-api-examples/index.php?api=android.webkit.WebResourceRequest (Search for EMPTY_HTML) Unfortunately, I do not have a public website where this can be reproduced consistently. Expected result: The address bar should not display data:text/html as the url Actual result:

I am getting no more responses on this one to confirm that it is reproducible on 5.0 or later. You can consider this closed from my end, will add more details if I ever hear anything
