Issue descriptionSteps to reproduce the problem: 1. Click on any download 2. 3. What is the expected behavior? It should generally open up in my download manager and before handedly it should be asking me where to save the video. What went wrong? Now for some of my downloads it is taking to the chrome downloads and not to the system default or any other manager in my system. And more over we cannot see where this download manager is and where it is downloading. Did this work before? N/A Chrome version: 51.0.2704.81 Channel: stable OS Version: 6.0 Flash Version: Please add chrome download or normal download option atleast in the chrome://flags

System download manager has a lot of constraints, it cannot handle HTTP Post request, site certificates, or channel-id cookies, etc. As a result, Chrome is moving away from System Download Manager to handle the download inside Chrome. When a download is finished, the download will be added to the system DownlodaManager. We are adding a new Download Home page in Chrome so that user can track the download progress in Chrome. BTW, when chrome is downloading, did you see the progress update in the top notification bar? If not, probably you have disabled app notification for Chrome app.

@qinmin I can see that the download is progressing. But the frustrating issue is that I have no power to set the location of the download or neither I have no knowledge of where the downloaded file is going on to download.

for #7, The downloads will always be downloaded to the Downloads dir on the sdcard: /sdcard/Download/ After the downloads complete, you can always view it in the Downloads app. |
