Issue descriptionSteps to reproduce the problem: Dear Chrome Team, We have observed an unusual behavior of Chrome Browser. Scenario :- 1) User has latest Chrome App and IndiaMART App. 2) User has set Chrome as default app for all m.indiamart.com Steps to reproduce error Kindly check our short URL embedded with our Promotional SMS sent to the user. When the user clicks on the link it hides the device's browser while opening directly from the received SMS. Actually URL is opening in the background. But it looks like that this URL is not working and browser has crashed. Tested Devices: 1. Samsung Galaxy A7 Mobile: 8650172690 Short URL: http://goim.in/kNp5Am9P 2. Moto G2 Mobile: 8439262502 Short URL: http://goim.in/V3wnaG5V Note: This problem is not device specific; other ecom URLs is perfectly opening in the same devices as shown in the attached video. Thanks for filing. Grace, any idea what could be causing the issue here? Can you help triage possibly? I'm not sure why some URLs would cause Chrome to focus while others wouldn't.

Both cases loaded Chrome. In the first case, Chrome crashed during loading. Please attach a bugreport so that we check what happened. Or please go to Chrome, and paste the result from chrome://crashes here. thanks.

Hi Team, This is happening if the user has both the App ( CHROME and INDIAMART App) in his phone. If I set Chrome as the default app for opening IM Link then Chrome Hides. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AhjSYbmCWMo No CRASH REPORTED on chrome://crashes this link

Thanks for the video. It seems when no default set to handle the redirected url, we are doing ok. After the default is set, we didn't open a new tab to handle the case.

I've tried to reproduce, but I am unable to. Chrome is brought to foreground as expected for me. rsgavara, could you please try to reproduce?

I tried on Samsung A7 and Moto G2 and Chrome is brought to foreground as expected. Only Scenario where chrome is opened in the background is when chrome defaults are cleared. 1. Installed chrome (53.0.2785.124) and Indiamart app on Phone 2. Go to gmail or any email app and have http://goim.in/kNp5Am9P or http://goim.in/V3wnaG5V in the email. 3. Tap on the link, It opens link in Chrome and sends it to background and brings up intent picker. If Chrome is chosen as "default" / "Always" link is opened in chrome.

We are not able to reproduce the original issue as shown in your video. Can you please check you are still able to reproduce on the latest version of Chrome?
