Can't test the app because I don't have user name and password. Plus, how are you sure this is a webview problem? Is the app using WebView? Does the app ever work with previous versions of webview?

if you have a test account, please give us. Otherwise can you create a test app that does not require sign in? Thanks!

I am just a user of the app, I can't create accounts. It was a normal keypad when I first got my phone last month, but after the first couple of days of updates it switched to the column of numbers. I was reading the comments and a couple of people said it changed after webview was updated. I know it is still a keypad on my BlackBerry Classic using the same android version of TWC Intelligent Home.

You can try to uninstall WebView updates to see if WebView indeed causes it, because it is very possible that the app update itself causes it. The following is the steps: Settings->Apps->Android System WebView -> Uninstall updates

Uninstalling Android System WebView updates fixed it.I'm now at version 52.0.2743.91 and I have a normal keypad.

If you're on version 52.0.2743.91 then that's the same version that you reported the bug on originally, so either you didn't successfully uninstall updates, or you let it update again :) Either way, that means uninstalling updates *didn't* fix it - maybe they fixed their app?

Play store wants do update Webview. When I go into settings>apps Android WebView does not show, so I got the version number from play store

The version listed in the play store is not the version you have installed now, but the version that the Play Store thinks is the latest (and will update you to if you hit update). WebView is a system app and hidden from the list by default; there's an option in the menu to show system apps.

I just let it update (52.0.2743.98) qnd I'm back to the column of numbers. so I uninstalled the updates again, and got the version before closing out settings. Im now as 49.0.2623.105 and I'm at a normal keypad. I know it's a long shot, but is there a list of what apps use WebView?

The majority of android apps use webview. If uninstalling the update fixes it then this app presumably is one of them.

Apparently Waze forgot any map updates from ver 49 to 52. Which I find very odd.

I don't understand what you mean.

I'm staying on the down level ver 49 of WebView just to see how it goes, and while driving in to work today I had Waze running and although it showed an intrastate that has been open for over a year, it would not route it. Waze was acting like it was a new road and asked me if it was paved or not. I just found it interesting, it has noting to do with my original issue of the keypad in the TWC Intelligent Home app.

I don't think there is anything webview team can do at this point. We can't log in the app to debug it. I don't suppose we have a developer relations team with TWC. But I'm gonna try and send an email to the dev rel people. I think you should contact TWC, and if they care enough about it, they will contact us with test accounts. Lastly, if this does not bother you too much, you should keep webview updated. It is more secure, considering almost every app uses webview. |
