CSS list items are more indented

What is the expected behavior?
a 'small' indent, I don't know per spec

What went wrong?
on Chrome 53 I observe li53.png, large and unconfigurable indenting of items

on Chrome 52 or Firefox I observe li52.png

Does it occur on multiple sites: N/A

Is it a problem with a plugin? N/A 

Did this work before? N/A 

Does this work in other browsers? Yes

yes, it's by intention. see  http://crbug.com/547938  for more details.
Current CSS lists and counters spec suggest 1em for markers: http://www.w3.org/TR/css3-lists/#ua-stylesheet
