Chrome Remote 52m audio doesn't play sound as in 50m

Reported by gusmcd...@gmail.com, Jul 25 2016

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/52.0.2743.82 Safari/537.36

Example URL:

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Use Chrome remote to log on a computer remotely. Play audio with the sound muted on the remote computer.
2.
3.

What is the expected behavior?
I expected the audio to behave like it did in version 50m. I could mute the source so everyone at home wasn't bothered by the audio and listen remotely at work. Now muting the source mutes the remote as well.

What went wrong?
The upgrade to Chrome with 51m broke the remote. I saw a message that 52m would fix the problem, but it has not.

Did this work before? N/A

Is it a problem with Flash or HTML5? N/A

Does this work in other browsers? Yes

Chrome version: 52.0.2743.82 Channel: stable
OS Version: 6.1 (Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2)
Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 22.0 r0

I am disappointed as I used this feature everyday until June's 51m update.

this is a bug in Chrome Remote Desktop. Dale, do you know where should I port this bug to ChromeRemoteDesktop team?

Components: Services>Chromoting
Labelling accordingly for someone from the respective team to have a look at this.

This is working as intended. The previous behaviour where the host-side volume was ignored was a bug. If you want the audio to be played at the client, you will need to unmute it at the host. If you don't want any audio at the host, you can enable curtain mode; see https://support.google.com/chrome/a/answer/2799701?hl=en for instructions.
