Tested the same on mac 10.11.5 chrome version 52.0.2743.82 and canary 54.0.2810.2 - typing the URL https://docs.google.com/ redirects to https://www.google.com/intl/en/docs/about/ which is expected.

 karnamit@, Since you are not getting the issue with in-cognito mode seems there is some issue with your profile. Please try disabling the extensions in chrome://extensions to see if one of them is the culprit.

I did clean cache and history... now no problem.... Didn't require to remove extensions!!
