MD Settings: Strange artifact rendering next to "Check for Updates" spinner

What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) Enable flag #enable-md-settings
(2) Open Settings in a window
(3) Go to About Chrome OS page

When clicking on the "Check for Updates" button, the Material Design Spinner, should not have any strange rendering issues.

However, a strange dot is rendered next to the spinner. (Look at the screenshot)
