Pushing thinkpad middle mouse button causes 2-finger scrolling to jump to the top of the page

Issue description
Chrome Version : 51.0.2704.106 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Other browsers tested:
Add OK or FAIL, along with the version, after other browsers where you
have tested this issue:
Safari:
Firefox: OK (46.0.1)
IE:
What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1)Press Thinkpad's middle mouse button, perhaps to open a link in new tab (the physical button just above the touchpad)
(2)Attempt to perform 2-finger scrolling on touchpad
(3)
What is the expected result?
View scrolls from current position
What happens instead?
View jumps to top
Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if
possible.
Thinkpad X220T running ubuntu.
$ uname -a

Please also note:
-performing the same action in firefox, pdf viewer, notepad, etc does not cause this behaviour
-opening a new tap with "3-finger tap" does not trigger this bug

I detailed it in the initial report. Not sure what else to add. It's technically "lubuntu" which is just ubuntu with LXDE as the Xsession, but I'm running awesomewm instead of openbox. I'm tracking the "devel" repository.
