Opacity transition does not respect clipping

What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) Visit https://jsfiddle.net/36vLw63u/
(2) Hover over the red circle.

What is the expected output?
The text should fade out but remain clipped.

What do you see instead?
While the text fades out, it does not reflect the clipping region.

Looks like another compositing bug to be fixed by slimming paint.

This appears to work in M58 on both low and high DPI. Clipping is respected.
