I also see this issue with current stable, beta, and the current even dev (54.0.2840.16) on my Nexus 6P running Android 6.0.1 using my own server instance; came to my attention because I tried to share a link to a friend (who's running 6.0.1 as well, albeit on a Nexus 5, and only tried Chrome 52.0.2743.98 Stable). I can provide additional logs and/or test links (my personal server isn't something I'd necessarily publicly advertise but I can easily set up a test one) if necessary.

The link in #8 works for me on M54. if you are using M52-M54, go to chrome://flags and make sure "use system DownloadManager" is disabled. If not, disable it and relaunch Chrome.

Err, if is really "fixed" if anyone we share a link to from a Nextcloud instance we have to provide workaround instructions to as well in case they try to use Chrome for Android? Unless you're saying that using the system download manager will be disabled by default in version 54?

Yes, M54 by default will disable system downloadmanager

This is caused because the system download manager is not sending cookies with the Same-Site attribute. Nextcloud does require the "lax" cookie to be sent on all requests. See https://github.com/nextcloud/server/pull/1454 for more information. So the first request with Chrome does include "nc_sameSiteCookielax", the follow-up download from download manager does not. In my opinion this is a bug in the system download manager. |
