Page zoom affects favicon resolution

Reported by meatwadd...@gmail.com, Jul 14 2016

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_11_5) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/51.0.2704.106 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Visit page such as internrocket.com
2. Zoom out in browser, example: 33% zoom
3. Reload page, the favicon becomes very pixelated.

What is the expected behavior?
Favicon should be unaffected by page zoom.

What went wrong?
The favicon has become all pixelated, somehow being affected by the page's zoom. (Doesn't work on all pages, works 100% on internrocket.com)

Did this work before? N/A

Chrome version: 51.0.2704.106 Channel: stable
OS Version: OS X 10.11.5
Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 22.0 r0

So, I am also seeing this in Chrome 51.0.2704.106, Mac 10.11.5. It's also in Chrome Canary, 54.0.2795.0. (And only with internrocket.com.) I'm not convinced this is an issue with Chrome though, have you seen the following HTML generated in your page? It's at the bottom, just above the closing </head> tag:

<link type="image/x-icon" rel="icon" href="data:image/png;base64,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">

If you right click that long link in the inspector and "Open link in new tab", you get the pixelated icon you're seeing in the favicon. If you zoom back out to 100%, refresh, and click the link again, it is significantly less pixelated. See attached screenshots.

Let me know if that helps (and if I can close this bug!) :)

To clarify, I think internrocket.com has code somewhere generating favicons on the fly which is causing the issue.
You may close this ticket, internrocket.com is using tinycon to generate the favicon, so your theory could be valid. I haven't been able to reproduce it yet but if I figure out that it IS Chrome I'll re-submit. Thanks!
