I got several feedbacks demanding this, so I start working on it.

There's my old CL which was somehow abandoned. https://codereview.chromium.org/2269463002/

Thumbnail could also take a long time to generate. Fix for https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=645021 introduces a delay before showing the image (to get rid of the flicker), perhaps we could show a spinner rather than trying to generate a thumbnail?

adanilo@ - I know we have some issues with thumbnails, but the assumption made for this solution is that the thumbnail should already be available. Is this not the case?

oka@ had an abandoned fix for this which I've taken a look at. The thumbnail may still need to be generated, and if it's a large file (e.g. 10MiB image) that could be slow. I can drill deeper to check, the suggestion of a spinner was just an option to think about.

Sounds good, thanks! Let's see if we can fix the core issue first as Quick View is intended to be a fast preview with "no" load time. |
