Reported by pkole...@gmail.com, Jul 8 2016

Issue description

Chrome Version : 54.0.2791.0 canary (64-bit)
URLs (if applicable) :
Other browsers tested: chrome 51.0.2704.103 m

What steps will reproduce the problem?
(1) open hangouts extension 2015.1204.418.1
(2) open a hangout, the window has borders and is a seperate window
(3) all other hangouts, open as seperate windows as well

What is the expected result?
in chrome - the window opens with a black border that works together with the other windows

What happens instead?
hangouts each open in a seperate window that is independent of the others

Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if
possible.

In screenshot - canary is on the top, chrome is on the bottom

Could you please help us with a screencast of the issue which you are mentioning here. Usually in hangouts each open in a separate window.

A video can help us to triage the issue better.

Thanks.!

sure thing - the screenshot kind of shows it, you can see how the extension that's from canary does not have the black windows, those windows don't pin to each other, they do not collapse. they are like a windows program with a normal title bar.

where the one on the bottom, works like it always did (black bar, can collapse and stack them, then move them as a whole, etc)

I'll put a video together.

video attached, (excuse the blur and the watermark)

but on the left, is the extension under canary, on the right is the extension under chrome.

as you can see, the canary extension has no black borders, opens each chat in a seperate window that can't interact with the others. where the chrome extension, can collapse chats, stack chats, put them together and then move them together.

in stable channel setting flag panels to enabled solves the issue. but in latest dev and canary panels flag is removed. Is there a chance to use panels flag in latest canary and dev ?

Comment 6 by pkole...@gmail.com, Sep 6 2016

Actually - as of version 54.0.2837.0 canary (64-bit) - i've noticed this issue has been resolved. So not sure that flags are needed to solve it if that's what you were doing.

Haha - but then Version 55.0.2851.0 canary (64-bit) - the problem is back. awwell.

Just to update, from M54 Panels have been removed when used hangouts extensions on chrome.

Request to please check on latest chrome version 54.0.2840.99 and update us with your observations.

Thanks.!

Yes, with the changing of hangouts entirely, this problem is now gone (altho, i won't complain here about the issues with the new hangouts).
