mgiuca@, could you please look into this change (https://chromium.googlesource.com/chromium/src/+/d8fdd17d87b906d6a0e21bd6366dface55132440) if possible? Please feel free to re-assign in case if this is not your change. Thank you!

I looked at it. I can't quite figure out what the issue is. The Actual video shows dragging the text into the box, then a single left arrow, and nothing else works. It's not clear what keys are being pressed (is backspace not working)? The repro steps are unclear: > Press right arrow key and then press Left arrow key to clear text and observe. The left arrow key should not clear text. Do you mean the backspace key? If so, why does the cursor move left in the video? Why does the Expected video not actually clear any text? Are you pressing left or backspace? I tried on Mac 10.12 (non-retina), Chrome Canary 54.0.2799.0. Cannot reproduce (although the bug report says 10.11 retina). I doubt it could be my CL because all I did was add a hook for when the backspace key is pressed while the textfield is not focused. (If backspace was doing nothing after my CL, it would have been doing nothing before my CL as well.) Seems like a web contents issue.

With response to comment #5: The above issue is specific to Mac Retina 0SX (10.11.5) and is reproducible on latest canary Chrome version: 54.0.2799.0. In Step 2, we have to press right arrow key so that cursor moves to the end of the String and then we have to press Left arrow key continuously so that cursor shifts to the left side. In actual result, once the cursor is at the end position, on pressing left arrow key continuously it does not shift to the left side. Please find the attached screencast.

#6: > In actual result, once the cursor is at the end position, on pressing left > arrow key continuously it does not shift to the left side. Please find the > attached screencast. So this has nothing to do with Backspace key, or erasing text? I'm not sure why the title and original description talk about these things. Changing the title. If it's not the backspace key, then it has nothing to do with my CL (and is a web contents issue).

nektar@, gentle ping to get an update on this

I fail to see how my change would be causing this issue. It's a change to the accessibility code that is only active when the Voiceover screen reader is running. I only modified code that runs when Voiceover is on. If accessibility is not on, the code I modified shouldn't run at all.

Change mentioned in #14 is not related to this as that code is not even built on Mac.

Is this only repro-able on the signin screen? Is it repro-able in other web contents? This doesn't seem directly related to signin code, so I'm removing the component label. Feel free to re-add if I'm mistaken.
