Issue descriptionI have as my languages: English (United Kingdom) then in the list also Italian, German. The new style settings gives me English (United States) but when I open the list it's English (United Kingdom), English, Italian, German. English (United States) is not in the extended list but I can't get rid of "English". In the old school settings I see English (United Kingdom) and it lets me remove "English", but if I close and reopen and then go back to the old school settings "English" is still there. It's annoying because some sites (e.g. theguardian.com) serve me the international version instead of the uk version depending on the language settings (I think)

I've opened issue 626153 to discuss the UI for deleting languages like "English". For the issue about seeing "English (United States)" after removing it: I assume you're on Windows or Chrome OS, is that right? You may be in a weird state after using both old Options and new Settings to manage languages. The short answer is to try restarting Chrome (be sure to exit completely if it's allowed to run in the background, e.g. on Windows right-click the Chrome icon in the system tray and close it -- if you're unsure, visiting chrome://restart will *instantly* close all your Chrome windows and restart the browser). After restarting: 1. Go to chrome://settings/languages 2. Add the languages you want 3. Refresh the page 4. Delete the languages you don't want Any time you pick a different UI language ("Display Google Chrome in this language"), you should restart Chrome for it to take effect. You may still be unable to delete some languages, like "English" if you have another variant added. That's okay; it just means websites that don't support UK English may send you another language, like American English, before trying the other languages lower in your list (Italian, German). (See issue 626153 .)
