Browser hangs on mouse over on buttons or while opening new tabs

Reported by me.prav...@gmail.com, Jul 3 2016

Issue description

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Ubuntu Chromium/51.0.2704.79 Chrome/51.0.2704.79 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1.Open browser
2. Click new tab button (or hover mouse on the bookmark toolbar)
3.

What is the expected behavior?
New tab being opened.
(on bookmark toolbar, while hovering mouse small selection rectangle appears)

What went wrong?
Browser freezes for some seconds before opening new tab (or before appearing selection rectangle). Sometimes problem is too difficult to recover so that I need to kill the process.

Did this work before? N/A

Chrome version: 51.0.2704.79 Channel: stable
OS Version: Mint 18 4.4.0-21-generic x86_64
Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 11.2 r999

Please note that this only happens to chromium browser (Google chrome - 51.0.2704.106 (64-bit) - works fine)

There is a discovery. There was a bookmark in my bookmark bar (https://secure.mathrubhumi.com/books/other-publishers/bookdetails/2549/bauthikakauthukam#.V3kSkt_I7Zt). I just noticed that browsers hangs when mouse over on that particular bookmark. I moved that bookmark to 'Other bookmark'. New tab loading, and mouse hover behavior immediately became normal. However clicking 'other bookmark' section in bookmark bar caused browser freeze for few seconds. I removed that particular bookmark from everywhere, and browser is normal now.

Please note that, I've copied ~/.config/chromium from my Ubuntu 16.04 machine to this Linux Mint 18 machine. And there was no such problem. Kindly check the issue.
