Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_11_5) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/51.0.2704.106 Safari/537.36 Platform: 8172.60.0 (Official Build) stable-channel veyron_minnie Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Run a chrome app that embeds a webview in it that contains a text input tag 2. Attempt to enter text via an on-screen keyboard 3. Notice the keyboard is invoked, however typing results in no characters inputted into the text input What is the expected behavior? The on-screen keyboard should input characters that are typed What went wrong? The on-screen keyboard becomes visible, but is unusable. Oddly enough, opening up the flip book and using the physical keyboard once will restore the on-screen keyboard's functionality. However, other touch screen actions still seem to not function. WebStore page: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/loop-client/ihldmjocmbkcbhpglgfgdocggcnbhdfi Did this work before? Yes version 49.0.26 Chrome version: 51.0.2704.103 Channel: stable OS Version: 51.0.2704.103 Flash Version: * Device is an Asus Flipbook * App runs in Enterprise Enrolment, but running in normal sign in, it also displays the above problems. * I tried the https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/webview-sample/hnanccpkhjhkkgiipckodmdldeomdohj, and it seems to work correctly.

Hello, we've got system log files from a device that was exhibiting the issue attached here. Also we discovered a temp work-around for Chromebook, which might help other folks seeing this issue on their devices: 1.Rotate the keyboard to put Chromebook into the "laptop mode". 2.On the screen with text input, use the touchpad to position the cursor inside of the text area and click inside it. Notice that the cursor appears. 3.Use the keyboard to type inside the text area. Verify the text appears on screen. After this the onscreen keyboard starts working again.

Please see the Heap Profile while Loop Chrome app running and the onscreen keyboard issue is present.

I can confirm that this issue is reproducible and present in other apps as well. It seems to occur with any app that has a webview and textbox.

I found that if you connect a mouse to your Chromebox with touch screen, you can click the dialog box with the mouse and then you get the courser and you can use the on-screen keyboard. This needs to be fixed ASAP but that is the work around I figured out.

This issue has been fixed by the same CL as in crbug.com/619906 . It's working in the current Dev channel build of Chrome OS.

Awesome, thank you for the update. When can we expect the fix to make it to the stable channel?
