Issue descriptionChrome Version: 53.0.2777.0 (Official Build) cd5f1c60daa702f416e719edf13358571e0bf084-refs/heads/master@{#401526} (64 Bit) OS:Mac (10.10.5 , 10.11.4),Mac Retina (10.11.4) What steps will reproduce the problem? (1)Freshly launch chrome and install 'lost coast' theme from https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/lost-coast/lpgfofpgdookjoiinnfmkdfjfnpmimkl?utm_source=chrome-ntp-icon (2)After installing theme navigate to https://chrome.google.com/webstore and click on any app.(i.e long url should be seen on tab) (3)Observe the tabstrip Actual: Weird white patches are seen on tabstrip after installing theme. Expected: Weird white patches should not be seen on tabstrip after installing theme. This is a regression issue broken in 'M52' and will soon update other info.

** IMPORTANT change in M52 merge date due to first 2 weeks of July no release weeks ** M52 Stable is launching very soon! Your bug is labelled as Stable ReleaseBlock, pls make sure to land the fix and get it merged ASAP. All changes MUST be merged into the release branch by 5pm on July 1 to make into the desktop Stable final build cut. Thank you!

The issue here is how the tab code is fading out the trailing end of a title that doesn't fit, though I'm not exactly sure why we're seeing it now and not pre-MD. sgabriel@ - long bookmark titles in MD are truncated with ellipses. Should we do that with long tab titles as well, or let them fade out?

Let the tabs fade out to maximize the space. I prefer ellipses in bookmarks because it gives a better sense of layout and touch target than a bunch of consecutive faded out titles.
