SVG radial gradient fails to appear

There seems to be a style or id lookup bug in Google Photos.
Repro steps in https://crbug.com/322487#c22

A few of us have poked at this but we'll need to minimize the testcase to make progress.

I think I figured it out. This is related to the <base href="https://photos.google.com/"> at the top of the page. It looks like we're trying to resolve the radial gradient id against that url.

This is pretty much  https://crbug.com/470608  (will dupe if confirmed).

Are you able to try removing <base> as a workaround?

Ah let me try to remove <base> and see if it fixes the issue, what's weird is that we have this <base> tag in <head> for both grid and photo view so, it's weird that the bug happen only in the photo view.

I'll also try to see why we have the <base> tag and if we can easily get rid of it.

Delete base does indeed solve the issue. Sadly we can't remove it as our frontend  framework rely on it for navigation and link generation purpose.
