Issue descriptionfeatures: what does it do? why do we need it? New settings menu has hamburger menu that helps to navigate through settings sections. However, it makes difficult to navigate. Because you have to click the 3-line button to open it and select the section you want to go. It is not user friendly. Also there is TOO MUCH SPACE in settings (see attached SSs), TOO MUCH. I'm sure most of users will agree with me, the new settings is hard to use and does not fit the macOS design language. I feel like "what?? Am I using a CrOS device or a Macintosh". Boxes, Selection rows make you feel "oh, it looks weird on my computer". I want my browser to adopt OS (Windows, macOS, Linux..).

Thank you for taking the time to file a bug! Some responses to your points: 1) The old settings page did not have a way to navigate through settings sections at all, so adding a menu (even if it's behind a hamburger button) is hopefully an improvement 2) The old settings page had a *huge* amount of whitespace, which is shown even in the screenshot of it that you shared. The new settings page makes better use of the available space while at the same time adding improvements such as making the page more easily scannable, touchable, etc. 3) The Chrome team is currently working to update the browser and its built-in pages to Material Design. For what it's worth, the old settings page didn't conform to MacOS design guidelines either, so I don't consider that a regression. |
