Icons missing on few apps on the AppLauncher

Chrome OS 53.0.2773.0/8481.0.0 cyan-cheets

Please specify Cr-* of the system to which this bug/feature applies (add
the label below).

Steps To Reproduce:
(1) Install the TOT build 
(2) Open All apps from the launcher 
(3) Observe the icons

Expected Result: Icons present for all apps

Actual Result: Missing icons for Google maps and Camera 

How frequently does this problem reproduce? (Always, sometimes, hard to
reproduce?)

What is the impact to the user, and is there a workaround? If so, what is
it?

Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screen shot or
log if possible.

I'm unable to repro this on elm-cheets with Chrome OS 53.0.2773.0 / 8486.0.0.

Is that specific to cyan-cheets? Does that always happen? With all accounts on this device?

N, not cyan-cheets specific.Its also reproduced on Samus-cheets  on a different account too

Seems to occur only the first time when the accounts are added later not reproducible after sign-out and sign back in

I don't have a cyan-cheets at the moment, but I'll try to get one. In the mean time, if you have any logs that you can share, please do so that I can take a look at them.

Have you tried with today's ToT?

Logs attached  While taking screenshot with screen with app icon missing not able to capture the launcher screen shot .

Have not tried on TOT build . Will update the findings

Nothing stands out from the logs, other than this error:

[15840:15960:0622/103422:ERROR:local_extension_cache.cc(507)] File already exists /tmp/.com.google.Chrome.mP4nyO

generated from here: https://cs.chromium.org/chromium/src/chrome/browser/extensions/updater/local_extension_cache.cc?q=LocalExtensionCache::BackendInstallCacheEntry&sq=package:chromium&l=507. Not sure if it has anything to do with this. +asargent for comments.

However, I could NOT repro on a cyan-cheets with a couple of accounts. I tried both (53.0.2773.0 / 8486.0.0) and (53.0.2776.0 / 8486.0.0).

Can you please do: "sudo ls -la /var/cache/external_cache", and post its output here?
