1. click the select

option list opens, closes, then opens again

What is the expected behavior?
option list opens and stays open

What went wrong?
modification of an attribute on the select element via click event causes the open option list to redraw

this also can be triggered by the addition of a new attribute to the select.

using 'mouseup' instead of the 'click' event has the same issue; using 'mousedown' behaves as expected
