youtube video continue to run in the background after reffering to different page

Issue descriptionUserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_11_5) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/51.0.2704.84 Safari/537.36 Example URL: youtube Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. open any youtube video and make sure it runs 2.right click on the video open tab and choose Duplicate 3. as the page load with the duped video click the youtube upper left icon to refer to youtube recommended page. 4 the video sound will run in the background even after being directed to this page. What is the expected behavior? the video and sound to stop, cause there is no video running on this page. What went wrong? the video sound will continue on running in the background and speaker icon will remain on this tab as indication for sound produced by this open tab Did this work before? N/A Is it a problem with Flash or HTML5? N/A Does this work in other browsers? N/A Chrome version: 51.0.2704.84 Channel: n/a OS Version: OS X 10.11.5 Flash Version: Shockwave Flash 22.0 r0 from few times i did it , it happened couple of times. i think it depend on how quick after duplicating the tab you click the youtube icon to be referred to the recommendation page.

I was able to reproduce this once with the listed steps. The video container is still on the page, just hidden or offscreen, so I suspect this is a youtube bug rather than a chrome bug. I'll see if I can file it against youtube.

after trying it few times before reading your comment. i came to understanding that it is only possible if using the duplicate options which is chrome function.

the video sound continue on playing even after clicking any other page link from the youtube menu ...subscription, history , clicking the youtube icon again and so on ...

I am unable to repro the original bug. Please make sure the sound is not from the original youtube video (from step #1). When you duplicate the original tab, load and play the video, the first tab is not automatically halted. In any chance, this is not a Chrome bug. If you still can repro it and is sure the video sound is not from the original tab, please open a YouTube bug. thanks

as i wrote, the bug is still on. its not from the original video and can only repro if you dupe the video tab and on the duped video you fast click on the youtube icon to the left. two fast click will assure it will quickly jump to the next page but the sound will remain. i really dont know if its flash bug , chrome bug or youtube bug. i just know it only happen when you dupe the tab and the original video is still playing . you can later shut off the first tab video and the new duped tab will continue on. i will report it to youtube as well . have a nice day. |
