Michael, is this regression potentially related to ttps://codereview.chromium.org/1681123002 ?
Patrick: I don't think that change is related. I would be surprised if a CL for notifications affected the NTP.

Oshima, any chance this can be fixed in M54?
Owner: e...@chromium.org
It looks to me that this is a bug in the blocking page/state where it also block underlying page from loading assets.

Same thing happens when you change the device scale factor while the page is shown. My CL just revealed the bug in another scenario.

eae@, do you know who knows about this behavior?

Unable to reproduce the crash on mac 10.11.6 chrome canary version 55.0.2880.4 - Google apps icon is displayed after clicking on back navigation button.

vkupte@, Could you please recheck and update the thread.

Huh, interesting. I can reproduce this. It's related to zooming on an interstitial page:
If you open https://www.sourceforge.com/ in a new tab (e.g. by middle-clicking the link), then the zoom buttons are completely disabled. However, if you open it in an existing tab, then the zoom buttons are enabled, but they don't actually zoom the interstitial page. Instead, when you navigate back, then that page is zoomed.

This is not actually related to the NTP, the same thing happens when you start at google.com (which also shows a OneGoogleBar).
